กรณีนอนไม่หลับรุนแรงหรือเรื้อรัง (นอนไม่หลับอย่างน้อย 3 ครั้งต่อสัปดาห์ และติดต่อกันไม่น้อยกว่า 3 เดือน) ควรปรึกษาแพทย์ ปฏิบัติตามคำแนะนำและอยู่ภายใต้การดูแลของแพทย์ อันตรายจากการซื้อยานอนหลับและทานเอง

คุณไม่ควรซื้อยานอนหลับและกินเอง เนื่องจากยานอนหลับมีผลข้างเคียงบางอย่าง เช่น อาจทำให้เกิดความผิดปกติของเลือด ตับ หรือไต และอาจทำให้หัวใจหยุดเต้นได้ หรือหยุดหายใจ นอกจากนี้ ยานอนหลับส่วนใหญ่ยังมีผลข้างเคียง เช่น อาการง่วงนอนหรือหน้ามืดในเวลากลางวัน การลืมเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นหลังจากช่วงเวลาสั้นๆ การดื้อยาทำให้มีการใช้ยาและการติดยามากขึ้น
